Poetry in Motion - Mojito Shoes by Julian Hakes

As with every other girl, I have a fantastic obsession and love for shoes. When I came across this article on Dezeen about Julian Hakes and his Mojito shoes, I felt like I was hit with a brick wall of "WOW!!" with his design.

It is named the Mojito shoe as it looks similar to a twisted lime skin.

Made of carbon fibre laminated with rubber on the side that touches the floor and leather on the side next to the skin, it is quite a sight to behold. Delicate, airy, light and elegant

We were wondering as to how the shoe looks if a model were to wear it, a quick hunt through Google images turned up blank. Only images of the shoes untouched. Disappointing. We are left with only these images of a tantalizingly beautiful piece of art waiting to be worn ;P

I prefer the impractical beauty of Hake's Mojito shoes to Zaha's Hadid's heels.....What do you think?

The Value of Empathy

I found a very thoughtful article that inspires me this morning,
there is an article posted in The Design Observer Group -

The Value of Empathy.

Something that remind us that we have a bigger vision.
So keep our passion burning and create something that can help the world!

"It’s so terribly trendy to care about the poor, the environment, and every form of 'betterment' that I begin to assume we must be selling more design by fetishizing social relevance." — David Stairs, Arguing with Success

Google Wave

UPDATE:

I have officially received my invite for Google Wave (yay!)
Apparently, if you get invited by the Google Wave team, you'd be able to give out several invites, HOWEVER, if you are invited by a friend who was invited by the Google Wave Team, you get nada invites. =/

Here's a bit of a preview on how the interface looks like...

Thus far, I only have 3 other people in my contact list so there isn't much activity. I find the fact that we can watch videos directly from Wave as well as being able to easily show maps and have live polls to be so bloody cool.

Here's a WAY shortened vid on how Wave works

-------------------------------------

A massively cool, open-sourced, browser based, crazily magical communications & collaborations tool by Google called Google Wave.

It'll be MUCH easier to understand once you've watched their really looong video taken during Google Wave's announcement/developer preview in I/O.

Google Wave is developed by Google Australia. More info on Google Blog here.

Microsoft's vision of 2019

Microsoft has put together a concept video showing what our world could look like in a decade's time. The Future Vision Montage shows a world where face to face communication is easier thanks to video walls that allows people to communicate without physical and/or language barriers. The video shows a world where computers and softwares makes it easier to collaborate, share ideas, and carry your information with you at all times.

I especially Like the Digital Wallet. Think about how much lighter our wallets would be if all our cards are in one(and how much more problems we'd have if we lose that ONE card) not to mention how cool (and somewhat freaky) it would be to see the person you're communicating with on the other side of the earth as though they are just standing right there in front of you :D

Subway Yearbook Photos

Such a pleasant idea: A Subway 'yearbook' filled with portraits of whoever-was-lucky-enough-to-be-there-to-participate. Am sure that this activity added a bit of twist and smile to those people's day. ;) Certainly would've made my day :D

Donate your body

" Hi I’m Quique and I was born a head. Now, after 27 years doctors say I could be "assembled" into a body, so I made this website to find myself a proper one. Please, be kind, help me :) "

Living mural by Blu & David Ellis

Buenos Aires-based artist Blu collaborates with David Ellis on a time lapse work of art.

It is a "wow" impressive art video, and the execution is crazy.

ESPN and W+K, N.Y.'s Virtual Football

ESPN and W+K/N.Y. recently found a way to help people beat the Monday blues. They have work with Monster Media to created a touchscreen billboard games that installed in New York, Boston and Chicago storefronts that summoned passersby to play virtual games of catch with digital quarterbacks.

"Is it Monday yet?"

Shiseido Real-Time Make Up Simulator

The Japanese cosmetic manufacturer giant Shiseido, has launched their brand new make up simulator kiosk at the Science of Beauty Make Up exhibition at the Science Museum, Japan which enables customers to try on as many colour combinations of their products with a few light touches on the screen.

This is basically what the future would look like:
No longer would we have to guess if the colour would look good on us or having to "test" it out on our hands or feeling lazy and purchasing something and possibly regretting buying it later on when we're home. All we have to do is walk up to a screen, and voila! The entire product line right at your finger tips to try on in as many combinations as possible without ever having to get your hands dirty.

Am unsure if this is just a prototype kiosk  because there seem to be far too few colours to choose from unless that selection was for say, a particular pallete for that particular season. Not sure, but what I do know is that I will spend a long time on the kiosk myself if I ever get the chance to do so. Absolute coolness.

P.S. : One thing I like about this kiosk is how accurately the program is able to calculate and locate the four key areas, eyebrows, eyes, cheekbones and lips and how smoothly everything gels onto the girl's virtual face without any (seemingly) lag or glitches.

The eerie elegance of Sil Van Der Woerd

A couple of very hauntingly, beautiful music videos directed by Sil Van Der Woerd featuring singer Lolly Jane Blue.

I couldn't take my eyes off these videos. They totally captivate my eyes; especially the part in White Swan where the foam/ cotton-candy look-a-like are forming.
